Granny Square Blanket Update

November 24, 2012

It’s getting close to the end of the year and I have been working like a mad woman to finish my goals for the year.  One of my goals this year was to knit myself a blanket, but I settled for crochet.  Back in March I started a crochet granny square blanket.  And the more I work on it the more excited I get to have it finished!  All I want to do is cuddle up under the blankie and knit knit knit.  I have made a gazillion squares so far and I have finally started piecing them together.  Here are some photos so you can see that I have actually made progress since my last update.

I definitely want to finish this before the end of the year, but unfortunately its not a priority. But I am very close. The reason its taking me so long to piece this blanket is because I am seaming it by hand (not crochet).  It makes all the difference when you seam the squares using the mattress stitch.  It gives the seams a nice clean, tight and neat finish that you can’t get any other way.  The next time you see this blanket it should be finished.  If only I didn’t sleep at night I could get so much more knitting and crochet done!
