The second county wide crawl is happening right now! It starts today, Thursday, April 11th and runs through Sunday April 14th.  This is going to e the largest crawl this city has ever seen, with 31 participating shops and covering a span over 2000 square miles.  Last year this was a very exciting event for knitters all over southern California.  This year it will be just as exciting.  There will be trunk shows, giveaways, raffles, and more! It’s absolute madness!  Here is a list of the events that will be going on during the crawl.

Last year I was bogged down and wasn’t able to check out any of the participating shops.  But this year, you better believe that I will out there finally getting a chance to visit all the great shops this city has to offer.  I plan on finally getting around to checking out The Little Knittery in Atwater Village, Unwind in Burbank (it’s been a while since I’ve been there), Sit N’ Stitch in Toluca Lake, Needlepoints West in Westchester, the Yarn Over Trunk in Santa Monica, and of course Twist in Manhattan Beach (a fantastical yarn shop).

Since last year was the first crawling experience for the shops, there were a few kinks to smooth out.  This year every shop participating in the crawl will be open Thursday through Sunday and at the very minimum from 10am – 6pm each crawl day.  This is a huge deal! As we now most yarn shops are closed on Sundays.  So this is a special treat that we can shop pretty much anywhere in the city all day on a Sunday!  Wooohooo!  A whole day of knitting fun and adventure.  I’m already trying to decide where I’m going to have lunch on Sunday.  Will it be Downtown? Burbank? Manhattan Beach? I dunno!!! So many places to choose from!!!

Make sure you get yourself a Passport!!! Even if you only visit one shop!  You can still win a prize.  Each shop you visit will give you a stamp.  You can turn in your passport to the last shop you visit or mail it in to enter to win some really great prizes from the crawl sponsors!

Oh! And one of the coolest things this year, The Yarn Crawl LA is hosting a photo contest! Find out more about the photo contest details here.  The photo contest will consist of the following five categories:

Best Shop Photo
Best Group Photo
Best Individual Photo
Best Yarn Photo
Best Misc Photo
Good luck to all!!!
This will be fun!  I’ll be around on Sunday…. will you see me??? Scavenger hunt! Find the Grace!!!!

  1. Would you repost the comments about knitting seaweed scarf in smaller yarns. I just bought the pattern at Stitches and wanted to make it in habu but can not find on your blog the instructions mentioned in the pattern–may be too old. Thanks terry
